Ah, that's a fantastic point Mrs Pete. Less work is always my preference. But would three tiled walls create just as much work... or no?
No way are tiled walls as much work as glass. To make cleaning easiest:
- Consider solid-surface instead of tile (but get your check book ready).
- Or use large-scale tile ... these are not trendy like the ubiquitous subways, but they'll be easier to keep clean.
- Specify narrow grout lines.
- Avoid too-dark or too-light grout lines.
- Take your tile (or solid-surface) to the ceiling.
- Be sure your storage niche has a solid piece for the bottom, and be sure it's slightly tilted forward so water won't pool on it.
- Install a hand-held shower head so you can easily spray all corners for cleaning.
My husband and I don’t love the look of our glass surround because, even though we do wipe it down after showers, it still looks cloudy most of the time.
Yeah, glass looks great in pictures, but I know I'm not the person who'd keep it spotlessly clean. Same reason I don't drive a black car: they look fantastic when they're clean, but I have better things to do.
