Hey Jan, not sure what i said to give you the impression i am prone to tantrums, or that i come on here to “bash” helpful pros who know way more than i do. But i think your advice to wait was objectively logical. i am thinking seriously about your floor plan, but just want to explore all options. (Side note: Sounds like youve had some bad experience with younger adults, which im sorry about. Im actually pretty curious now how old you all think i am, and what about me, other than my toddler age kid, is giving off all these immature vibes.)

The wrench thrown in the ”wait and see” plan is just the flooring. i got a lot of feedback in that thead (other than yours) and the prevailing opinion is that the columns should go regardless of what else we do. In other words, if i want to take them out, its now or never, but if i want to close them in it can be anytime. if we end up putting whole walls back in it would likely be five years down the line when we are good and sure, and the kid is grown. Your opinion has definitely been heard and appreciated, and i expect others will agree but do want to give them a chance to weigh in. I see DeWayne, another pro, has already agreed with you.

Edit: The kids main playroom will be the formal dining room space.
Edit 2: Actually the question i should have been asking is: is the new urgency unfounded due to bad info? Should i trust the flooring person when they say patches later would be hard to blend? I dont actually want to be making this decision now and would love to postpone it, if im not missing my chance to make the change.
