Personally I prefer polished chrome and polished nickel, but I have traditional tastes. Satin finishes are more modern or contemporary, so it depends on your style. If possible, it's preferred that the finishes in a room coordinate even if they don't match exactly. For example, you can mix finishes, but I'd keep them to two if possible. If you're building a home from the ground up, and have the option of matching the hardware to the fittings, then that probably is the best route. So either all satin nickel, satin chrome, polished nickel or polished chrome. If it's too late to do that then I'd try to at least match the finishes if you can't match the metals.
Hope that helps.
