Inspiration: How to Bring Woodsy Winter Cabin Style to Your Home
Stay Snug With Warm Wood, Comfy Nooks, Sleeping Lofts, and a Little Kitsch
Winter's chill is in full force, and it's making me long for a warm fire in a cozy little cabin. There are ways to design a house like this, and even elements you can easily bring into your own home to make it snug and warm during the winter months. Here are some pieces of the cabin formula that make these homes so warm and inviting.
Slanted ceilings: This is how to make a converted attic space feel like somewhere you want to bed down.
A sleeping loft: Having to climb a ladder is oh-so-Little House on the Prairie!
Nestle the house on the site: For new builds, take down as few trees as possible, and give it a Hansel and Gretel feel.
Stick furniture: A bit of Adirondack style always works in a cabin, even on barstools.
Log cabin walls: If you're lucky enough to have an old log section of your home, do not drywall! Let the exposed logs show off a bit of history.

Warm wood: On the floors, the walls, the ceilings, or as in this cabin, everywhere.
Snug nooks and crannies: Preferably close to the fireplace.
Antiques and warm quilts: Shaker chairs, an old trunk for extra blankets, and even a quilt on the wall make this room ready for cold temperatures.
Wood planks on the walls: These horizontal planks give this cabin an intimate feel.
Views out to the surroundings: This bedroom lets the owners feel like they are in the trees.
Window seats: This bench is a perfect spot to snuggle up with a wool blanket, a pile of pillows and a favorite book.
