Precedents in Architecture: In the Tradition of the Greats...
A huge part about learning how to be any kind of designer is learning about history and precedent, across disciplines, genres, theories and eras. Sometimes when I am cruising around Houzz I can catch a glimpse of the influence upon the design.

This house screams Palm Springs Alexander to me.
This house has a dash of Michael Graves in it.
I see a little Corbusier, a little Neutra, and also some Julius Shulman architectural photography influence, particularly the way the Kauffman house was photographed by him.
I can't put my finger on whose work this reminds me of, so I'm just going to say Philip Johnson's Glass House.
There's a Sea Ranch sensibility to the style and siting of this building.
