Joanie, very exciting that you are past your lean phase! The best part of redecorating is the journey of discovering your own personal style. When shopping for the nightstands get the height right (the same height as your mattress or a few inches taller but never shorter), the scale right (demilune or round is a good idea at least on the bathroom side so you don’t bump into it), and be practical (no mirror top that can crack or chip, do you need a drawer, 2 drawers, shelf, etc). Many Queen Anne “brown furniture nightstands” from the 50s are in thrift shops have nice shapes and can be renewed with silver paint or black lacquer. You have many style options for an elegant night stand...chippendale, Parisian, Art Deco, Chinese chest on stand, Demi-lune, Scandinavian splayed leg with gold metal tip, etc. Please don’t try match your dresser or metal console, you want your furniture to look acquired and not like you bought a set.
