Designers and buyers from around the country have been attending Atlanta Market Winter 2021 in person and online. Although the home furnishings, gift and apparel show has had thorough COVID-19 safety protocols in place, Houzz attended virtually. Here are a few home design highlights spotted at the Jan. 12-19 trade show.
1. Fabulous Outdoor Furniture and Accessories
Atlanta Market’s winter show is always a great place to check out the latest in outdoor furnishings and accessories. It’s held in the dead of winter, the perfect time to start imagining outdoor spaces and planning for warmer days.
This collection of faux stone outdoor stools and tables illustrates a variety of styles. At first glance, the fluting of a classic Greek column or the silhouette of a tribal drum may emerge. On second glance, Art Deco curves and Eames-inspired midcentury modern shapes show themselves. Such versatility means these playfully irreverent pieces will work well with a wide range of styles.

Atlanta Market’s winter edition is also a great place to check out the latest in pots and planters. These pots on posts, called Skypots, help designers squeeze more plants into a garden with a small footprint and layer in plants at eye level. The pots have reservoirs in the bottom that cut back on how often the plants need watering.

When it’s cold outside and the ground is blanketed in a layer of snow, colorful lights provide cheerful contrast. These globes have multicolored LED lights that can be changed via remote control. No matter the time of year, they’re a fun way to light up the night.

2. Colorful Lighting Options
Lighting is another big category at the Atlanta winter show, and this season’s event offered lots of colorful options. Wildwood showcased fixtures with a versatile element: The shade panels can be ordered in any Benjamin Moore paint color. Another option is to order them unpainted and have a decorative painter use a color from any paint company you choose.

3. Art Deco Influence
The stepped silhouettes and distinctive curves of Art Deco style have popped up at the past few large American home furnishings markets, and Deco-inspired furniture, accessories and lighting continued to trend at this event.

4. Dark Caned Furniture
Another trend at recent shows is caned furniture, which adds a dose of British Colonial style to a design. At the past few furniture shows, caned pieces with light-colored wood dominated. But in 2021, dark-stained or black-painted wood have lent a more formal and sophisticated look to caned furniture.

5. Beautiful Natural Textures
There has been a sense of getting back to basics at the market, and this includes natural materials and handmade pieces. For example, this bench combines a handwoven twine seat with lovely mango legs. The simple silhouette, handmade feel and natural materials would add interesting texture and warmth to any space.

6. Crisp Navy Blue
Navy blue has been a popular neutral at the market. Though it can lean preppy or nautical, the versatile hue works well with almost any style. This ready-made vanity has a linen texture and brass ring hardware.

7. Colorful Multiuse Totes
A tote bag isn’t usually part of a home furnishings story. But this market also features gifts and apparel, and there’s cross-pollination between those categories and home design. Many designers who have retail shops picked up items such as this tote, along with jewelry, journals, Christmas ornaments, design books, tabletop items, candles and other gifts.
There are several things about this tote that make it worthy of sharing. One, its color-blocked hues work well with contemporary art’s recent influence on interiors. Two, it’s made of hand-braided 70% recycled plastic. Three, its shape makes it an option at home for a structured and stylish basket for corralling toys, throw blankets, books or magazines. It’s good to think outside the box when looking for attractive containers during a New Year’s organizing frenzy.

Love the natural materials & woven seated furniture. I know of a sheltered workshop that sells beautiful hand made artistic items, and re-cane chairs with high level of talent. Located downtown in Bridgewater NS the business is a gem to the community of challenged individuals as well as the general public who values 'non fake' things to enrich their lives. So glad to see that such furniture is still valued by decorators. Lets bring back Shaker beamed & wide plank floored houses too.
The Havana bar stool is great! Thanks for posting.
Oooooo! That Currey & Co chandelier!
