As we look back on 2020 and anticipate the coming new year, it can be fun to review emerging design trends we expect to see unfolding in future room designs. Houzz contributor Becky Harris attended the Fall 2020 High Point Market remotely earlier this year and sat down (virtually) with Hope Dorman of Houzz to discuss highlights from the show in a short webinar. Read a brief summary of the topics they covered below, or click the link at the bottom of this story to watch the full webinar.
In the webinar, Harris and Dorman covered:
- Interesting shapes of new products, such as sculptural angles and facets
- Trending colors, including jewel tones, marigold, warm neutrals such as creams and greiges, and nature-inspired blues and greens
- Textures inspired by nature, such as wickers and rattans, caning, and faux shagreen and shells.
- An emphasis on sustainability in textile design, including one company that repurposes plastic bottles as yarn
- What’s new in lighting, including how technology is improving controls and helping us live more healthfully in our homes
- Furniture featuring bold abstract textiles and minimalist (but not stark) design
