Current living room configuration looking towards the family room and kitchen. The wall with the gas fireplace is what we are thinking needs to be removed? Or possibly modify by removing existing gas fireplace and replacing with a three way that would sit high on wall to be above both furniture on other wall and dining table on this side.
This is the main focal point of the home. David LOVES his fireplace and wants it to remain with comfy seating in front off (which will be purchased new) Again considering removing the wall to the right of the wood fireplace, which will open up the family room to the (new) dining room and living room. The navy fireplace surround is the colour inspiration for including blue in the new kitchen cabinets.
One of the big things that we will require guidance, suggestions etc on will be the lighting. The island will start out under the lower ceiling then extend out into the area with the higher ceiling. Also the existing recessed lighting under the lower ceiling along the window side do not match up. For this reason and others we think it’s easiest to simply remove the wood ceiling and replace with Gyproc. Start fresh for lighting.
