waterside development
im putting this in as a kind of what not to do. those stairs were expensive to buy and install. but the small small of the flags and all the little hand sized rocks make it.looked cluttered and disjointed. the plants will grow and it will look better. when im done a job I try to take away all the scrap. because alot of people will try to make stuff out of it which will be scaled all wrong.
I saved this just to show Armour stone. its huge rough cut blocks of local granite. if you cut out a bit of the slope , some blocks of this as retaining wall can be seating with a few cushions. you would still want chairs in front of it for small groups but its nice for larger gatherings to have a kind of amphitheater style curved wall to hold back the hill and give shape to the area and informal seating.
this is a way to do the job in parts. do the terracing, paths in gravel..live with the shaping, and see if its perfect for how you use the site, do the stone surface as time and money allow. Nothing is wasted as the gravel is prep for the stone. But you may like it enough to keep it or just add stepping stones strategically.
entry with rocks to.hand hold. roo square and sharp but this is the idea
