Coviello discussed a variety of topics related to insurance policies needed to fully protect your business given current global events, including:
- Types of coverage to have
- Potential policies related to COVID-19
Types of Insurance Coverage to Have
Coviello recommends obtaining comprehensive insurance to protect your business from potential liability claims stemming from home design projects. Personal liability, property damage, professional liability, workers’ compensation and subcontractor coverage are the types of policies Coviello recommends obtaining.
When it comes to insurance policies, having more than is required is often well worth it. “Let’s be clear on this: Subcontractors need to carry their own insurance,” Coviello says. “The idea behind subcontractor coverage is to name you and your business as an additional insurance.”

Insurance Policies Related to COVID-19
“Things are changing daily around the country,” Coviello says. “As we sit here right now, there is not a policy in force that would cover the COVID-19 pandemic.”
Coviello says the federal and state governments are discussing coming out with a specific new form of coverage in the insurance industry to deal with the pandemic or forcing the industry to potentially go back and cover claims stemming from it. “I’m hopeful that we will have a coverage form coming out that will specifically cover this,” he says.
