The dishwasher project
Photo
janbhan My 8' x 11' kitchen had no room for a dishwasher under the counter without demolishing part of the plinth, so I decided to fit a peninsula unit under the window. Tight space constraints and the need to put slim storage for glasses etc on the sides meant we used marine ply clad with white formica to match the kitchen walls for the basic unit. I still had a box of the golden yellow tiles used for the floor and used them for the counter. A wooden beading to protect the edges has to be fitted, (and I haven't bought the dishwasher as yet) but the counter is already being used because of the wonderful natural light, my husband loves it, and we now have a place for morning coffee. It looks cheerful, and I was happy to use up good hard-wearing tiles that have sat in the loft for 12 years. Oh, and we used the last four border tiles to link it to the rest of the decor.... Photo coming up!
