My Labor of Love - The face lift continues.
Bought this Bank Owned House in early 2013. The Face Lift continues, it's definitely my labor of love!!!!
As of the beginning of 2020, the improves done thus far to the outside are:
- Upgraded the Front Entry; Front door and glass block
windows replaced. Installed Dual Doors and framed sides &
foot sill with Limestone.
- Prefab porch step removed and added larger brick
surround step with existing brick. Covered porch and step
with Blue Stone framed with Limestone.
- T shape glass block mid-height window replaced with
casement window & limestone sill installed.
- Front Window replaced and Limestone sill installed.
- Couple windows on the side of house also replaced.
- Siding replaced with Hardy board.
- Entire exterior repainted - 3 colors used on Brick, siding &
trim (Frt. Doors and Garage doors same color as trim).
- Front porch and garage lights replaced.
- Deck floor boards (various) and warped hand rails replaced.
- Deck re-stained - used solid colored stain (same as the trim).
- Landscaping in front of the house and to the right removed
and replaced with new items.
- Trees cut down and stumps grounded. (16 in total - biggest
tree was half dead oak over 4' in dia. in the center of the
backyard. The other trees were way too close to the house
& needed to be removed to prevent further damage.
Next up is a new roof & sky lights (Spring of 2020).
After the roof, I plan to upgrade the garage doors.
I want to replace them with the contemporary framed glass doors which I superimposed (see pic) over the current garage doors to give a visual of the end look I'm wanting to achieve.
Ultimately, I'd love to do a Metal Roof, and I think that would be the best look for this style house, but I don't plan on staying here any longer than a few more years. Furthermore, the HOA Bylaws won't allow a metal roof.
And then, the next outside project will probably be some more landscaping improves. The ideas are forming.
Many improves done on the inside as well, but that's another story and belongs in it's own Idea book. (yet to be created)
I would Love, Love, Loveeeee to hear anyone's opinions, ideas and/or thoughts.
Cheers!!
