Looking Ahead: Design Trends in 2010
While forecasting the future is no easy feat, I believe that 2010 will bring with it an optimistic and fun approach to interiors.
Gone are the days of worrying about matching our furniture. Eclectic, personal interiors will keep gaining popularity. Yea! We will see more of an emergence of green products and bold strokes of color and pattern. I say, bring it on 2010!

Lovely, whimsical design! You can tell that the person who lives here is not afraid to let loose and take risks. Something we could all aspire to do in the new year.
Eclectic design is here to stay. 2010 will bring playfulness to interiors, focusing less on taking everything so seriously. Mixing patterns and furniture styles is a great start!
Black and white is already a classic combo, but it's coming back to the spotlight in 2010. The mix of patterns, metallic lamps and lucite tables help mix it up and avoid the matchy matchy mistake.
Black and white stripes add a graphic punch to this classic room.
I never thought I would write this: Purple is back! This hue has never been one of my favorites, but after recently designing a bedroom for an 8 year old I am starting to come around! The use of rich purple here is so chic.
Fun! The blueish purple is balanced by ample doses of white.
Green materials and furniture are the way of the future. Grasscloth wallpaper, reclaimed wood furniture, and zero-VOC paints are just a few products that will gain popularity. I hope that 2010 brings more awareness to the purchases we make and how they affect our health and the health of the environment.
