How to Choose the Perfect Blankets
Wool. Don't be put off by wool's reputation for itchiness — new weaving and processing techniques have done much to alleviate that problem, especially for good-quality versions. Wool is one of the most comfortable and versatile blanket materials on the market, providing ample warmth without extra weight. Merino versions feel luxuriously soft.
Cotton. Breathable, comfortable, cool in summer and warm in winter, a good cotton blanket or two should be a staple of any linen closet. Unless you live in a very warm climate, it's a good idea to have a lightweight version for hot days and a heavier style for cold ones. This thin cotton blanket provides just a touch of warmth on its own, and an insulating layer under a thicker comforter or coverlet.
