Whether you’re looking to splurge on a loved one or need a small but thoughtful gift for that grill-loving friend or family member, this guide is a good place to start your search. With 10 crowd-pleasing ideas to choose from, you’ll have all the cookout masters and backyard barbecuers on your list checked off in no time.
1. Pizza-Making Gear
Not every grill-lover wants to make pizza at home, so it’s important to know your gift recipient, but for fans of homemade pizza, the right tools can make producing a perfectly crispy-chewy crust easier. Give a pizza stone to use atop a regular grill, or (for a big splurge) treat them to an outdoor pizza oven. Either way, add a few key accessories like a pizza peel and a pizza wheel so they’re ready to cook.

2. Outdoor Serving Pieces
Carrying big platters of food from the kitchen or grill to the table is easier when those platters are made of lightweight, outdoor-friendly materials. Look for platters and bowls big enough to serve a crowd, serving trays with handles and caddies designed to tote condiments and cutlery.

3. Backyard Party Game
Enrich the experience of a backyard barbecue with a gift of a dartboard and darts, a lawn game or a giant version of a classic game like Jenga. When selecting a game, keep the size of the yard in mind. Compact games that can be easily stored are best if you’re not sure.

4. Grill Tools
Long-handled tongs, a grill fork, a spatula and a meat thermometer are must-haves, and a complete set would make a good gift for someone just getting their grill set up. A silicone basting brush, kabob skewers and a grill basket for veggies are nice extras for new and experienced barbecuers alike.

5. Grill Gloves
A dedicated set of outdoor oven mitts is something any backyard barbecuer can use but may not get for themselves. Regular kitchen oven mitts work well for most folks, but high-temperature grilling gloves would be even better. Add a few new dish towels or a heavy-duty apron and a jar of steak rub to make a gift-worthy bundle.

6. Portable Outdoor Speaker
Help your backyard chef enjoy music grill-side with a portable bluetooth speaker. A light-up model (like the one shown here) isn’t necessary, but it does add a fun touch.

7. Grill Lights
If you’ve ever tried to grill after the sun has gone down, you know how essential having proper lighting is to get the job done. Grill lights that attach right to the grill may be small, but they make a very helpful gift.

10. New Grill or Smoker
If you’re looking for a major splurge, a new grill or smoker is the ultimate gift for a barbecue lover. Just be sure you know what kind they have their heart set on before you shop — it’s a big purchase and it may be worth spoiling the surprise to be sure they’re getting exactly what they want. All set in the grill or smoker department? Consider a heavy-duty cooler that will keep drinks (or meat) cold for hours.

Thanks for sharing this! Happy New Year!
One year, I got my husband an inexpensive outdoor cabinet to store his gear that has a bar for a kitchen towel and hooks for holding grilling utensils. The top is stainless steel so it's a great prep space too. Several years ago, my sister got him a branding iron with his college logo on it. He thought that was fun. This year the kids bought him a heavy-duty grilling apron that has lots of pockets and a loop for holding a towel. His birthday was yesterday and he loved it. I plan to put some exotic dry rubs in his stocking.
I bought my bbq and smoker enthusiast each a Meat Swadl this year. Hope they like them
