Striking Color Combo: Green and Hot Pink
These 7 examples of the dynamic duo create a bright and cheery vibe
Perhaps it’s a reaction to the all-white or heavy-on-the-gray interiors that have been trending during the past several years, but there’s been a recent notable shift toward injecting fun color into living spaces. One combination that seems to be popping up everywhere is pink and green.
What a fabulous use of fun color here. There are quite a few hues in the mix, but because no single color dominates, it all balances out nicely. The bold magenta of the base cabinets gets picked up slightly in the iridescent backsplash tile. Speaking of the backsplash, the main color there is a very cool green, almost blue. It acts as a bridge for the far warmer green of the stools well. This is how to mix warm and cool hues in a space.

This is a recently completed project of mine, in which the homeowner wanted to jazz up her very cool and contemporary kitchen.
Because of large, leafy trees on the lot, the kitchen does not get a ton of natural light, so we kept the space mostly white and added a yellow-green accent wall that really glows.
The soft pink pendant over the dining table was purchased for a previous home; to make it work here, we pumped up the pink with shocking-pink dining chairs.

Lest you think our featured color combo is for contemporary spaces only, check out this preppy pink and Kelly green kitchen. I like the juxtaposition of an unusual color treatment in a more traditional space. And this is not a tough or expensive look to pull off in your own space. So if you love color but have with a color-starved kitchen, find yourself a good painter and then pick a couple of vibrant hues such as these to perk it up.
If the previous kitchen was a bit too bold for you, check out this option. A decidedly softer, almost minty green has been paired with various shades of pink. It’s a beautiful mix of colors and materials — unexpected and undeniably eye-catching.
Spring-inspired greens always seem to catch my eye. They evoke nature and therefore have a fresh and hopeful vibe.
Bring the happy hue inside your dining room to stimulate appetites and conversation. Here the pops of pink may be relegated to a small accent in the rug, but they help ground the space and spread the vibrant hues throughout the room.
Because the more assertive hues are used in small doses, this space doesn’t feel as color-intense as the previous examples. And the softer greens used all around give it a cozy feeling while keeping the look light and bright.

For fans of softer greens, take a look at this stunning living room. The gorgeous architectural details are the heroes, and painting them a soft mint was a great choice. The hue highlights the details, rather than washing them out as a white might have.
The cluster of pink seats sits in sharp contrast to the wall color, causing the eye to move back and forth between the seats and the walls. It’s a bold palette that celebrates this grand space.

Pink and green highly contrast each another, so it’s not a common color pairing. The two colors sit almost opposite on the color wheel, which means they each amplify the other’s chroma, or intensity of pigment.
So, sure, this color combination is not for everyone. But for those of you who are fearless lovers of color, check out a few examples of how to bring these two hues together.
