When you’re remodeling a bathroom built for two, whether with the help of a bathroom designer, architect or contractor, chances are a pair of sinks will be part of the plan. Read on for 10 inspiring examples of bathrooms that get the two-sink framework right and see if one of these ideas might work in your space.
1. Big and Little
If you know that one person (ahem) has a lot more stuff to store in the bathroom than the other, consider pairing an expansive vanity with a more modestly sized model, as in this space by Traci Zeller Interiors.

2. Farmhouse Double

3. Flanking the Door
When space doesn’t permit a long double vanity, the symmetrical placement of a vanity on either side of the door, as shown in this space from Kenowa Builders, is a good alternative. Separating the vanities also makes it easier to let the messier person have their own space to spread out — without encroaching on the neater person’s zone.

4. Facing Sinks
In a narrow bathroom like this one by Chango & Co., a pair of single vanities that face each other can be a smart use of space. Just be sure there’s enough room to comfortably navigate between the vanities — especially if you plan to age in place or are aiming for a bathroom that follows the principles of universal design.

5. Side by Side
Of course, there’s no law that says you have to have a double vanity even if space permits. If you like the idea of separate grooming stations, go for it. In this bathroom from Pike Properties, the designers did just that, positioning a pair of single vanities side by side.

6. Vessel Sinks
Especially striking in a guest bathroom, a double vanity with vessel sinks can make a stronger style statement than the usual undermount-sink variety. In this wood-and-white bathroom from Bone Made, the sculptural quality of the vessel sinks is echoed by the airy woven pendant light.

7. L-Shaped
If a whole lot of room to spread out is what you’re after, an L-shaped vanity that fits into a corner could be a dream come true. In this space by Shiflet Group Architects, spacious drawers and wide mirrors provide a comfortable spot to get ready.

To Kaaren Baumgartner check Houzz, there are plenty of photos there of back-to-back vanities
I don't have room for back to back vanities now, but the house that we built prior to this had back to back vanities which I loved. Would do it again if I had the room. One plus was that his side had a mirrored medicine cabinet while my side had a stationary mirror which (by opening the medicine cabinet slightly) gave me a full-sized view of the back of my head when doing my hair.
Oops, I guess my vanities were opposing (across the room) vanities rather than back to back!
