Single-Hung and Double-Hung Windows
These two common window types differ in the number of movable sashes
A single-hung window is made up of one fixed sash at the top and a movable sash at the bottom. A double-hung window is made up of two sashes that travel vertically in channels independently of each other. These two types are the most common residential windows.
This illustration details a single-hung window. The top sash is fixed, while the bottom sash moves.
Double-hung windows give you more options for altering the airflow.
Single-hung windows can be worked into detailed architecture.
