Ideas For Phase Two
This is an example of an enclosed portico (aka a "mantrap" or an "airlock") to keep pets and kids inside the house. I've included it as inspiration. I'm not into the colors or anything else here. Just the example of the concept is useful to see. We want to keep creatures from running out the frontdoor.
Ignore all of the furniture and stuff in this photo. It is included to show wall colors. I've got a plan for what colors go where. I've included this photo because it features two colors that are prominent in my interior paint plan: BM white linen and BM shaker beige. I know they are "boring" but I like them and I've got so much colorful stuff that I feel they set a really nice warm background tone that ties everything together.
On the ceiling here is some art I like in the form of a woven, textural thing. I'm including art as examples and inspiration. I've got a lot of it and tend to create it too. Not saying i'm good or anything! But at least I've got some very talented and generous friends. So I've got a lot to display...
Bedroom. Like spicy color, high ceiling, beams on the ceiling, like art featuring animals
Bedroom. Like exposed ceiling, windows, nature, nice storage under the hip wall too
Bedroom, like wood, light, nature, the sage wall color isn't bad either
Bathroom. Like, rustic, moody, comfortable, romantic. This is a little darker than some but I could get into it.
Bathroom. Likes wood, storage, counter won’t show dirt. I’d prefer to not have shiny faucets. Brushed or something I don’t have to polish. I love the extra storage that looks like it is tucked between framing in the wall.
Bathroom. I like the storage nook with shelves above the counter. I like the wood vanity. I like that the counter surface looks easy to clean.
Gardens. I'm planning to do pretty serious gardening all around the house, including pathways, water features, and big rocks. It'll take time but I wanted to share the vision so you know what I'm into. I really enjoy cutting brush and gardening.
Full bathroom. Like wood, easy to clean surfaces, storage. Dislike that the vanity lights would blind me. Shaded or frosted or something as an option would be better. Also I'm not crazy about the gray tile or wall color. I prefer warmer tones.
Dining room. So I know this looks different because it is rather Victorian but I wanted to include it because I have a lot of eclectic stuff I want to display. I have a lot of art and antiques and many of them are from the Victorian era and I'm very fond of them. So this gives you an idea of how things will look after I start putting out stuff to display. It's going to look kind of like an old lady got at it... After Victorian, the second and third most common genres I've got objects from are mid-century modern and orientalism.
Living room. I included this because the windows are similar and it shows a fireplace. I'd like to have a fireplace between the banks of windows in the new living room. I was leaning towards a zero combustion "Opti-myst" fireplace, for ambience because that is better for the environment.
Loft attic space. I was considering opening up the loft above the top floor so it was more accessible for storage and as a "hideout" for kids... or me. I like hideouts too
Yard. Fence. I’m inclined to do eclectic stuff like this myself. Included for inspiration. I'm hoping we can install an economical fence around the entire property, right up to the edge, because I want to be able to utilize every inch. Then I'll make the fence "beautiful"
East or west side yard. Like lights, space to be, lush plants. Edibles. I included this to show inspiration for how a narrow side yard can be used. I'm interested in making every inch usable and also making the views from within the house good.So I think a lot about placement of objects and plants and how the window frames the view of them from the inside. So imagine looking out of an interior window and seeing an inviting spot like this.
Kitchen. Likes wood, some glass and some hidden storage, good light, exposed beams, medium toned counters look easy to clean. I like white or cream appliances. Dislike stainless appliances because hard to keep clean.
Kitchen. Likes. Warm wood Cabinets, tile colors, medium tone counters. I'm happy with a little open shelving but not too much. I'm going to need a lot of closed cabinets. I have a lot of ugly, old but very effective cookware that is very, very dinged up. I love it and use it often but it's probably not something my guests want to stare at. Plus I suck at scrubbing it.
Rec room? This shows exposed joists and stuff on the ceiling and I might like that in some places. Also thought about it in the kitchen and master bedroom
