Hi! DH. Congrats on your career shift decision. Good luck as you move forward on that. As to your question on chandelier placement and shapes. Yes. Shape is very important. Also, “lines of sight”. Frosted has a very good eye and of course being in the space is the best antidote to how a fixture looks in a space. When I mentioned this is an art not a science it comes from a lot of experience hanging chandeliers. I believe chandeliers and lighting in general totally define the style and look of a room. I define Frosted’s style as “casual elegance”. In this open space, lighting can be a valuable way to define one space from another. The living room here is the highlight of the space. So this fixture to me is the most important. That’s why I have suggested saving up to get the fixture that suits best. A couple hundred bucks can make a huge difference in fixture quality and design. The height and shape of ceiling can inform choices. Hence a two tier or empire shape is so good with cathedral ceilings like Frosted’s. It draws the eye up and raises the ceiling. Wider, flatter design is like putting a wide belt on a short frame person. It cuts height in half. Hope that helps.
