When I had my master bath redone three years ago, I included deep drawers in the center of the new double vanity. I have all of my makeup and some toiletries in clear plastic organizing bins inside one drawer (easy to look down and grab what I need), hair-styling tools in another, and the remaining toiletries in the medicine cabinet. Everything is within easy reach, but there are no toiletries whatsoever kept on the countertop collecting dust and looking messy. It keeps the bathroom looking neat all the time and it’s much easier to keep everything clean.

While I love the idea of having a cupboard/cabinet to "stash" your keys, wallet, purse or phone, I would like to share an experience I had, that has changed my mind about using something like this. A few years ago, I was living in a 2 story condo and was in the habit of leaving my purse (and everything in it as you can imagine) downstairs on the kitchen bar. It was just so convenient and....well...convenient for the burglar too. One morning while I was asleep upstairs, someone managed to open my living room window and grabbed my purse. I happened to wake up a little earlier than usual, went downstairs and noticed the drapes were fluttering outside the window. Best guess, I must have interrupted him during his "visit". As it turned out, I found my purse thrown out in the next door neighbors yard and everything was still in it (my wallet, credit cards, cash, personal cell phone). From that moment on, I began bringing my important items into my bedroom closet for safe keeping. It was a lesson I had to learn the hard way and I don't grumble about that inconvenience now. If you are considering having a cupboard/cabinet like what is illustrated above, I would invest a little extra to have some type of locking mechanism installed OR find a safer place to put them.
