Columns look great but they can be obtrusive if not done well. The beauty is, you can made them exactly as you want them. If you need help or have questions, this is a great place to go for answers and makers who can get the job done www.custommade.com.

This idea book reflects a profound lack of the fundamentals of Greek and Roman columnar language. Whether one's personal taste is pro- or anti-Classical columns, no one should be subject to an elevation of the poor examples we see here.

Chadsworth Columns
In regards to the Capitol Lighting photograph - At the risk of sounding picky, at closer look these are Denticular Doric columns with Ionic fluting, not Tuscan. On the capital you can tell by looking at the abacus as well as the extra filets between the echinus and necking. The base also has extra detail on it compared to the Tuscan. It is a very common mistake since the Tuscan and Doric are similar. Still, this is quite a beautiful application.
