Soapstone counters with drainboard, white cabinets with glass knobs, and subway tile
Cream tile or a color or white? What about grout color? Concerned about staining of food behind range. Want a small accent (just texture change as you said) behind range with a "Picture frame surrounding herringbone of same of similar tile pattern in a slightly smaller size, perhaps).
Would like a more veining than this. A little too "all black"
Chuck says not to run a 3-4 inch band of Soapstone for back splash--just tile as in this ex, but is it harder to have outlets with tile? I saw black outlet covers with soapstone, and they were almost hidden.
Colored tile (i'd do blue)
Lighting
Painted hood and stove. Was considering white to match cabinet color, but could do dark blue or is that too much of a commitment?
Cabinet feet? Will lights like these have glare?
Hood if we have to go simple stainless. I don't want tile to ceiingl with chimney
Hood overhangs as far as stove
Hood Idea
Think I want a slightly diff white. This is Simply White OC-117 by BM. It is a rather pure, clean white, I think. BM OC-17 White Dove is also often used--it has a slight touch of gray, but I don't want a cold feeling kitchen. I'd like the pop of dark blue with brass to warm it up...not sure if I went with a similar tile what shade to use. This photo seems very cool. Kitchen does face west, so may be "cool" is better?
This look: white Shaker cabs, inset--maybe, soapstone on all surfaces, but w/o the backsplash surround (unless you think it should be there--we would have tile to the surface), simple cabinet surround hood (unless it's too $ vs a stainless all-in-one hood such as this. I don't want to see a metal chimney--too contemporary for my house. Like some color of a glazed, shiny brick (handmade?) tile in a subway style with a darker grout so it won't get as dirty. Islands will be a shade of blue (deep/navy Hale Blue or NY State of Mind by BM for instance; Undermount copper sink. Maybe brass accents if they look good. Won't see the sink that much as it won't be apron front. Paneled DW and Over/Under Fridge. 30 inch stainless or painted range if we choose to pay the extra . Unsure about lighting. Wood floors in a med brown with grain showing and div btwn planks. Don't care for a flat look on floors. Classic, timeless look if I'm going to be there forever!

Slab of Corian Quartz London Sky ordered for me. “Veins” look too long and skinny and regular. Not as much variation as samples I’ve seen or the sample on bottom left, which I really liked.

Corian Quartz London Sky slab ordered for my Master Bath—concerned the veining is too long, thin, and in the same direction compared to all the samples I’ve seen with softer gray colorings and veining. Not sure I like it.
