retaining wall
The cap is Colorado Buff Sandstone from Lyons Colorado. It is what we call template - meaning the quarry snap cuts it in the shape and size that we specify. this is a round 5' diameter outside with a 3' diameter inside making the width of the cap about 12"
Thanks for you compliment. The stone is Colorado Buff Sandstone, and this wall is made up of stones that vary in depth back from 4" to 12" +/-. It is "Dryset" so the stones are stacked up, but we do use a concrete mix behind to stabilize both horizontally and vertically. The walls are backfilled with crushed rock for drainage, and we will do this detail to walls that are 4' to 5' max in height.
Hi - I recall that it was a Davis Color - San Diego Buff in a 'sandscape' exposed texture. It was sealed with a penetrating translucent sealer. There is a possibility that it was Mesa Buff, but it was one of the two. Thanks for your interest.
Phase One Landscapes Hi. This is real stone available/quarried north of Denver. Suppliers are Loukonen Brothers Stone, Tribble Stone, and I think High Plains Stone. General Shale in Englewood might have a 2" thick for veneer.
