Don't despair - you can get a good match. You just need some advice from people that know! We know - we're the largest producer and supplier for saltillo tile. (So whether you buy saltillo from us or not, here's some free advice!). Definitely buy unsealed saltillo - regular unsealed saltillo since your tile has squared edges. Don't buy super saltillo - those have rounded edges. You'll buy it unsealed so that it will be pastel in color like your existing floor is. Then, you'll have to play a bit with either wax (if you think it's been maintained with wax) or a water-based sealer. Experiment on a couple of tiles - to get to the color you have. If you've been waxing, you'll have to stick with waxing because sealer won't stick to wax. I hope this helps! If we can help you out with the tile, let us know. We offer wholesale prices and ship worldwide from our Texas warehouse!

The floors are the classic. The flat lifeless prison gray is the fad that is already over. Pick another color. A grayed turquoise or sagey green would be great, and could possibly let you use the counters that you have on order.

Is it possible to do industrial glam w/ saltillo tile floors?
Think Art Deco, Titanic, 20s-30s, a bit steampunk-ish, some ancient etnic or old world. Copper, bronze, teal, wood, rust, stainless, cement, but lots of white in high gloss (or other shiny/silky surfaces).

Saltillo Tile floors
I've had both hardwoods and Saltillo tile in different homes. The only thing that hasn't been mentioned is that the tile can be colder. It also has the opposite affect of wood- if you drop something on the tile more than likely the item will break, with wood if you drop something on it more than likely you'll put a dent in the wood. After yrs of going barefoot or wearing socks only on the tile, I developed some foot issues which the foot Dr says he sees all the time from not wearing shoes on the tile. You shouldn't have any issue using the colors you want to. Though the photo you show that fireplace is not working with the tile!

I went thru the same dilemma last year. The Saltillo flooring was staying and I put off- white cabs in. Would have loved to have had a light counter, but wasn't thrilled with any light counter -- they were always "off" with the Saltillo. Ended up with Silestone's Marengo, a darkish charcoal, which blends nicely and complements the Saltillo. This is the best picture I could find that shows the counter against the flooring. The darker counter also blends well with the dark stove top.

Butcher block is a very good choice for counters and are really easy to care for i would do a lot more info gathering before deciding against it IMO a marble look quartz does not go with the floor nearly as well as either soapstone or wood The kitchen in this pic is now 15 yrs old the counters still look like new with very little upkeep I ran a catering biz from that kitchen for 7 yrs
