flowers, thank you for posting those lovely photos. I wish I could grow peonies. Festima Maxima is a beauty. Therese Bugnet is very pretty. I'm sorry now that I didn't include her in my order, but HMF says she's disease prone.... Mary Magdalene is glorious. I would love to see that in person (possibly rub my face in her! and cause you to banish me from your garden!) - and smell her. I'd like to see photos of your garden, mess and all, too.
Kristine, Crimson Glory is a rose I thought of planting at one time, but couldn't think of a spot for it. I look forward to more pictures. It's a pity that reds are so hard to capture, because it is such a rich colour.
Jim, your garden is bursting forth in leaps and bounds. Rozanne has put on a lot of growth too.
HalloBlondie - you go girl!
Kelly, what rotten luck to lose so many roses, but good that you've got so many more coming!
Diane, what's happening in your world? I hope you're getting to enjoy your roses? Or is the weather still awful?
vaporvac, here is the stretch the chiropractor gave me for my back. Lie on your back, and bring your left knee towards your chest, and with your left hand push it across your body, and put your right hand underneath your ankle and pull it towards you. Hold for 30 seconds to a minute. This gives a good stretch to the buttock. I never realised that the tightness there was causing my back pain. Repeat on the other side. And preferably do it 5 times a day. I only ever remember to do it after the shower, but my back no longer bothers me even with that little effort.
The gardener is coming this morning. We (me directing!), are going to tackle the lower pond, which is a solid mass of iris, mostly pseudocoris, but some Louisiana. It has always leaked too. Everything has to come out. I don't know if there are still any fish there, but I hope to rescue them if there are, and put them in the top pond. The lower one is to be frog friendly, and I'll put in some fish that don't eat tadpoles, to keep the mosquitoes down.
