Despite the lack of reviews out there, I took a chance and got the Wolf contemporary cooktop. I've been cooking with it for 3 weeks. So far, I love it. I can list a few pros and cons for you:
Pros:
I've never had a stove that can cook so gently. I use the simmer burners a lot. I'm really surprised to see how few cooking "emergencies" I have with this cooktop, even if I'm drinking wine, chatting with friends, and chasing kids at the same time. I've stopped burning the grilled cheese.
The hot is really hot.
I like the variety of burner sizes and the burner placement as well. I was worried that it would be crowded when I'm cooking several dishes at once. Not so!
I was also worried that my large pans would overhang the edge and scorch my new white Caesarstone countertop. That's not a problem either. I can use several 12-inch pans at once.
It's just so simple. I'm hoping this stove will last forever, which is the main reason I didn't get induction.
The light up knobs are very helpful.
I like that food mess doesn't go near the knobs.
It doesn't shout "Wolf" at you!
It looks great.
Cons:
The knobs stick out a little farther than I'd like. I sometimes bump into them with my hip when I'm cooking. That happens less and less as I get used to the new kitchen.
I don't love that any food spatter immediately ends up down under the grates. I've never had to clean a stove so frequently. The grates are easy to lift out, but it still annoys me. That said, I don't know if another model would be any better. My last stove was from the fifties and had a large expanse of enamel between the 2 sets of burners, so cleanup was easier. Sometimes I'll place a baking sheet next to a pan to catch the mess if I'm making something that spatters.
Also, before and after stove photos:
My old Dixie, long-lasting proletarian stove. I managed to make a lot of great meals on that stove over the last 25 years, even with the 2.2 cubic foot oven.
New stove...no leaky pilot lights!
