I
want to thank the many readers and contributors to this string. We very much
appreciate the interest in Cambria. As the North American leader in stone
countertops, it’s not surprising there is a lot of interest in our products,
and unfortunately along with that, come misconceptions. My intent here is to
respond to some of the concerns expressed on this page.
Chips—all
stone, including Cambria, will chip. Chips usually occur around high-use areas
like sinks or dishwashers where pots, pans, plates, etc. hit or bang into the
surfaces. Cambria is stronger than granite/marble, but Cambria will chip. Most
chips can be repaired, but some may not, and some repairs may be visible
Surface
deviations—yes, Cambria’s Jewel Collection (most notably Parys, Minera, Rosslyn
and Menai) may have more surface deviations than other Cambria designs.
Avoiding deviations at all costs in any stone countertop is impossible. If you
are concerned about surface deviations, we would suggest laminate or solid
surface. That said, contrary to some of the posts herein, there are thousands
of very happy Cambria customers out there who have Parys, Minera, Rosslyn and
Menai in their kitchens.
Customer
service—We are disheartened to read some of the negative feedback about our customer
service. With our headquarters in North America (Minnesota) we have a customer
service advantage compared to the many foreign stone products offered today.
Clearly we have some work to do on this front. That said, some of you posting
are familiar to us and we have been deeply engaged with you trying to work
through your respective concerns. Our customer service team resides in Belle
Plaine, Minnesota, just up the road from our plant and stands ready to assist
with questions or concerns about Cambria. If anyone experiences anything less
than satisfactory timing from Cambria, my contact information is below. We ask
you to call me personally and commit to getting you an answer immediately.
Cracking—like
chips, all stone including Cambria, may crack. Cracks usually occur due to
heavy force or high temperatures being applied to the surface, and/or improper
or uneven support under the countertop. Some cracks can be repaired or
minimized, but some cannot.
Thank
you for taking the time to read this and learn more about our product and
company. If you have a specific concern you would like to discuss please call
1-866-Cambria and you can always learn more on our website. http://bit.ly/20o06iO
