15 Popular Design Trends on Houzz
Checking out the "most popular" photos on Houzz is a fun way to lose a few hours (or more...be careful). I know what I like, but it's always interesting to see what everyone else adds to their ideabooks, too.
Not surprisingly, when you spend some time with the photos, a few real trends emerge. Every photo in this ideabook illustrates one of those trends - and every one of these photos has been featured in at least 100 ideabooks here on Houzz.

So what is it that you all like? Check out what I found:
2. Galleries. If I had to pick one trend that seems most pervasive, it would be arranging art on a gallery-style wall. In the top set of photos, images like this are everywhere.
I mean it, they're everywhere. You all really like galleries.
3. Modern beds. You're all about sleek, peaceful, zen-like bedrooms.
4. Cool kitchens. You gravitate towards kitchens with great personalities.
6. Open shelving. More storage, and more ways to incorporate it into design. Open shelves have been hot for a few years now, and they show no signs of slowing down.
7. Clean color palettes. A surprising number of photos are of rooms that are bright, airy and very neutral.
9. Open kitchens with islands. Yes, I know this has been the trend in kitchen design for over a decade now. However, I've recently read some kitchen designers saying that closed-door kitchens are on the way back in. Judging by your photo selections, though, I'm not so sure.
10. Statement pieces. We're in the midst of "tough economic times." But that only makes one amazing statement piece that much more noticeable - and you're noticing that.
11. Chalkboard paint. It's fun, especially for kids, but you're into it in adult spaces as well.
12. Dramatic dining tables. Whether it's the size, the shape, or the materials, you love dining tables that make a statement.
13. Standalone tubs. I think this just might be the year of the standalone tub. They're everywhere - and you love tehm.
14. Wood. Natural materials are a big hit with you, especially wood that hasn't been finished beyond all recognition.
