better lighting would help.
as for the rest, what do YOU want? Can you stand a bunch of pics w/some other ideas?
Do you like the black countertop? if so, remove the 4" piece and do a simple tile that you like.
maybe some pendants^
how about this?
black countertop, white cabs, and a colorful area rug,
and plain white subway tile (Try Cloe Tile). (I also like the black hardware and black faucet. I think the nickle ones you have a bit more modern looking. if you keep the black counter and do a white tile, try the black handles)
***Just remove that 4" piece up the back!
easy to do. score it w/razor knife and carefully pry away from wall. don't worry about some paper damage. tiling will cover it.
Here, black countertop, black hardware, and a nice white herringbone backsplash.
pair it w/a black and white or colorful rug. Like this one:
Bring in some wood cutting boards, some greenery (shown here w/better looking handles)
And, a few more ideas:
I think a walnut butcher block on the bar top would be killer w/this look. and a few pendnats.
like this walnut top,
and two of these pendants,,
and some type of black/natural rattan or wood counter stool.
. There. done!
another one w/the dark countertops, better lighting, and a soft green backsplash tile.
Do you want a lighter countertop? Fine, do the Calacatta Laza. or something similar. (Personally I'd get the diff countertop, but that's me)
some pendants over the peninsula would give more light and more decor? white subway tile.
You have the space for it, bring in a nice area rug. ^
or like this one:
If you like the blue/white, then do your lighter countertop and a longer white subway tile. accent w/the area rug
for a nice change, do the wood on top of the raised bar portion. you can buy a butcher block at floor and decor.
and, you could do a simple walnut butcher block on the bar top
more ideas. You could do a simple white beadboard backsplash. it's cheap and easy and could go on top of the 4" piece if you want. maybe add a some glass to a few of the uppers.
this might look nice w/some matte black cup pulls and knobs.
or, remove the 4" piece and try this carrara herringbone mosaic. comes on a 12" sheet. pair it w/glass knobs, maybe a few glass doors.
Ok, so here's your white cabs w/a white quartz, wood bar top, a few open wood shelves and gold hardware. This tile is Newport 2X10 in the soft sage/gray color. (Tilebar and Wayfair carry this tile)
Do a natural style flat weave or sisal rug. I really like this one too
maybe some glass pendants or something like this over the bartop area.
Here's the tile. comes in white and a taupe color as well.
