LED lights come in pretty much any color temperature you want. You can get them with CRIs 90 or higher, which is very good (and I would highly recommend if you are concerned about how they will look. CRIs of 80 are considered acceptable by most people, but not if you are picky). If you want to avoid a costly mistake, buy a sample of the LED you are interested and look at how things look under it compared to your halogen ideal. If it isn't acceptable, try a different LED. If you really can't find an acceptable LED, then go with the halogen. But changing light bulbs in a cathedral ceiling is a PITA, so there is a real, concrete benefit to long-lived LEDs far beyond the energy savings. They last 10 times longer before burning out.
Dr. Mercola sounds like a quack.
