I agree with Sophie, I think your floors are red not white oak.
That said, my red oak floors aren't orange. They were before they were refinished but that was a result of the old finish ambering over a couple decades since they were first laid. We wanted a natural finish so all the installers did after sanding was coat them with a clear, protective finish. No grain popping, no stain. We love them!
The floors' color changes a bit throughout the day, depending on whether they are artificially or naturally lit. Our artificial lighting is in the 2700-3000 Kelvin range.
I agree with frenchtarragon: sand down the parts you've stained and start over.
