Houzz Contributor. I am very inspired by anything design. I live in Montreal and feel that our city is unique in its strong sense of art and culture.

One look inside Evan and Osnat Feldman’s Montreal home and it’s clear that their family and heritage mean everything to them. After an unsuccessful attempt to expand their previous home due to city restrictions, the Feldmans moved two blocks to a larger space where Hasidic figurines, a traditional shofar (ram's horn) and a “Jewish history table” that holds various historical books mix with antique dark wood antiques and bold colors and patterns for a look that’s deeply sentimental yet instantly approachable.

Labeled "the red room," the family room features a custom-made sofa that inspired the room's wall color, which is a custom Benjamin Moore mix.
Osnat, who was born in Israel, had the large coffee table/ottoman made out of yellow leather. It serves as her "Jewish history table" that holds various historical books, including boxed sets like Lessons in Tanya and Ethics of Our Fathers.

Osnat created this wall arrangement using pages from a book about flowers and frames from local shop Gemst. The trunks and chairs are both antiques given to the couple by Evan's mother.
A traditional shofar, or ram's horn, with a small plaque rests on top. It was given to Evan in gratitude for his involvement with the local Jewish community.

The couple purchased the three Hasidic figurines here in a marketplace during a trip to Israel. The corner desk is an antique.

The media cabinet was originally a dark wood color, but Osnat painted it to match the rest of the room.
Osnat designed the chairs around the 12-seat dining table. The drapes were recycled from her previous home. Not wanting anything to go to waste, she sewed together two sets from separate windows.

Mementos from Thailand top a red antique dresser, which was a gift from Evan's father.
Osnat changed the floor color from natural pale to dark and added wainscoting to the walls.

The couple updated the kitchen countertops to granite and added a new backsplash.
Wainscoting and traditional accessories dress up a powder room.
In the formal living room, the couple's own furniture mixes with some passed down from Evan's parents, like the collection of paintings on the right wall.
The brightly colored Danièle Rochon painting was purchased from Bellefeuille, Osnat's favorite gallery.

In a nearby seating area, Osnat mixed antique chairs with a custom upholstered chair from Renaissance (now closed) in the shape of a jellybean. Large rugs help define the space as separate from the living room.
Artist Peter Beliveau created the painting of Osnat's favorite fashion book covers. The two sculpted handbags displayed in acrylic boxes are by Jonathan Seliger.
Upstairs, in 7-year-old Jack's room, Osnat hung boxes she found at Home Depot to display cherished toys.

Daughter Olivia's room mixes traditional style and schoolgirl fun. The dresser holds dainty items and has school schedules placed under the glass. The stool and curtains are both custom made.
Olivia's collection of snow globes started with one she received as a gift. Since then her parents and friends bring her back snow globes whenever they travel.

With three kids Osnat is keen on organization; she hangs their sports equipment on the garage walls.

Most of my relatives and family friends have shofars, menorahs, odd little Rabbi figurines, collages with Hebrew writing on them adorning their homes. This is a nice house, but it is sort of odd that Houzz makes such a big deal of religious objects and ephemera being in a house.
