I have two dogs I walk all the time and clean up not only after them but also after other dogs. Off that I use old bags or the ones provided by the municipal office here. And I pick up cans etc. on my way towards a public trash can and put them in there. Plastic, metal and such do not belong into nature. But I normally only pick up where there is no front yard, I leave that to the home owners...! Hate the 'litterers' though, it's really not necessary to throw the trash out of your vehicle.

I know right, throwing trash out of your car or truck, or on the side of the road is aweful and disgusting. You low life pigs! Pick up your trash and put in garbage cans!

How about adding these more meaningful steps. Read up on organic and native gardens, with perfect timing to plan changes that will improve the ecosystem around your home and bring birds, bees and creatures back to your yard. Also, larger swaps- pick a room - the bathroom or laundry or kitchen and begin to source plastic free, sustainable alternatives for cleaning, toiletries, etc.Take the Tilex and other terrible items to the hazardous waste depot and be done with that. Ditch the plastic water bottles and keep the reusable bottle and coffee cup you had last month.
Don’t paint the house unless you need to.
Buy nothing most days, and only what really makes life better.
Research alternatives to your gasoline car, esp electric if you live in a place with clean electricity sources.
Plan for summer with fans and ceiling fans and blinds on the right windows and real ways to reduce your use of a/c. Embrace linen and hot weather fabrics.
