I’m gonna go with maybe. Just about everybody warned me against doing the counter on my peninsula in a different material. We have walnut butcher block everywhere else but as a pretty serious baker, I really wanted a section of marble. (We had gotten 16linft of the butcher block for $97 at ikea, so we couldnt have done it the other way around.)
It worked for us because we had an L shape on one wall and a coffee bar right across from the end of the peninsula. Since both were walnut, it gave us the look of sort of an attached island. If we only had the L, or had the L with, say, fridge and maybe pantry cabinets but no counter on the other wall, it would not have worked. We also had 12” between range and peninsula. That had walnut as well to avoid looking like we just ran out of material.
Something to consider: what will your corner cabinet be? If you are planning a lazy or super susan in the corner, I don’t see how it would work.
Sorry I don’t have A good photo of the other side, but here’s the computer rendering, which looks pretty much identical (except the rolling pastures in the dining room)
