Keep in mind we’re only seeing this room from one fixed point. Much different than being there in person, walking around, sitting on the furniture, TV on, rug underfoot, etc.
It’s always helpful to see more angles of a room posted, especially if open to other rooms.
In person, I’m sure the fireplace is a stronger feature than this one pic shows — it’s unlikely any rug would take away from that. We have a stone corner fp that goes to the ceiling … even with olive velvet sofas, a colorful Oriental rug, colorful pillows, art, etc, it’s the dominant feature. :)
What are your thoughts, OP? Do you think a neutral rug might be the safest route at this point? Or maybe it would be best to wait until you get the new pieces you spoke of before deciding on a rug?
