Fashion Trends Hit Home: Tribal Patterns
One of the big trends in fashion lately is tribal patterns. These are textiles created all over the world by talented craftspeople who pass along their skills and traditions down through generations. As I am not an anthropologist, I may take a few liberties here where "tribal" goes into a bit of David Hicksian style, but that's fashion for you!
This mix of Kilim pillows give the room an exotic feel. Kilim comes from a long tradition of weaving in Turkey.
Suzanis come from Uzbekistan, embroidered together by different tribes who included their gols, or crests in the designs.
This eye-catching area rug has an intricate pattern that gives it an African look.
This framed woven piece and the rug are right on trend for the tribal look.
These pillows are more David Hicks looking to me, but the room with its textures and tropical accents has a distinct tribal vibe.
I can't resist showing you another shot of this beautiful room.
Tribal rugs can also be hung from a wall as artwork.
The colors, textures and prints in this room look like a "can this outfit be turned into a room?" straight from a tribal look on the runway. Perhaps by Oscar de la Renta, or Michael Kors!
