The majority opinion on a coastal area is that aluminum clad is a problem. Doesn't mean everyone agrees but like I said, we went with vinyl. I've had both and while wood looks a little nicer, I wouldn't take the risk at the coast. We went with Viwinco oceanview impact and they look shockingly good for the money. We spent just $10k on a 2100 sqft house. I think our window count was 3 casement, 14 single hung, and 3 fixed with transoms. The fixed were 6x6 ft and 4x6 ft and most of the windows were 3 ft by either 6 or 5 ft depending on ceiling height. It is shockingly cheap for impact. I don't think that included our glass doors.
