Warm Up Your Bathroom with Vintage Furniture
Other than the kitchen, I'm not sure any room in the home has seen more changes in design over the years than the bathroom. Gone are the days when the bathroom was all about cold tile and hard surfaces. If you're considering a bathroom renovation, consider using a vintage piece of furniture in your sink design. Your bathroom will feel as beautiful and inviting as all the other rooms in your home.
When using a vintage piece of furniture for the bathroom sink, chests and cabinets work best. They make it easy to hide the necessary plumbing while giving you additional storage for towels and other necessities.
Some surfaces of vintage pieces naturally lend themselves nicely to being used as a sink...like the marble top on this gorgeous antique oak cabinet. I wonder if this was a dry sink prior to being made into a real "wet" sink. The mirror above is just perfect. Absolutely beautiful!
Vintage furniture even looks great combined with modern vessel sinks. This one looks especially at home on this painted sideboard. The sink itself even looks like a vintage piece.
Vintage chests and cabinets are pretty easy to locate in antique shops, flea markets and at estate sales. If you love this look but don't have time to scour the shops, reproduction pieces are readily available in most home improvement stores.
Such a great look! Just a beautiful bowl resting on a lovely chest...except you can wash your hands in this bowl!
I'll leave you with this beautiful image...another wonderful example of the kind of reproduction "vintage" pieces available for today's bathroom.
