The custom bar features sliding glass doors to house serving dishes, platters and glasses along with an ice-maker and sink for entertaining with a coffee station.
Important In my primary house kitchen, the warming drawer is placed under the speed oven /mw and a few steps from the main ovens. It is on the far side of the kitchen from the serving area. When I serve buffet style, (which is they way I do all my entertaining), I have to place hot trays/food warmers and move the warmed food to point of service. In my vacation home kitchen I am redoing, I am placing the warming drawer near the dining areas (both indoor and outdoor) and point of service (not near the ovens) to eliminate the extra steps of transferring food and having warming trays. This way I also keep guests out of the main food prep area. As I have many overnight guests, I can place the cooked breakfast dishes there and early risers as well as late risers can serve themselves at different times of the morning. As you say, one has to look at how the kitchen should function for one's own specific needs.
Create a coffee station. Make it easy for overnight guests to rise and shine while you sleep in by having all of the coffee and tea in one spot (with labels) so people can fend for themselves. This way, if you’re busy cooking pancakes, guests can feel comfortable brewing a second pot of coffee. A coffee bar is a great built-in to consider when renovating, but this useful station can also be set up in an existing kitchen using a piece of furniture like a hutch, as shown in this photo, or even a console table.
I like everything about this A new bar station sits in the area that once contained the fridge. This hardworking area features a round stainless steel sink, a slim dishwasher and a flat-panel microwave drawer. The arched door on the left leads to the dining room. “The original design was calling for a pocket door, but it felt too closed off,” Khramov says. “The kitchen is now connected to the existing dining room and flows much better.”
