Timeless Restoration
Following a fire, this home in the San Francisco Bay Area got a second life after extensive interior design work. Yoko and her team remodeled this 2700-square-foot house before the fire, and the team was trusted again to bring it back to life following the fire. They worked tirelessly to redesign and refurnish the interior of this house, creating an inviting home where everyone could happily gather. The aim was to create a welcoming and warm interior that would invite friends and family into the space following the remodel work.
Upon entering the home, the large-scale artwork really sets the tone for the space. The artwork lends itself to an Asian-inspired design with the koi fish, which offer a peaceful centerpiece for the space. The living room was kept simple with warm wood tones and blends of blues. This creates a relaxing atmosphere that acts as a central hub for the family to gather. The mixed materials in the living room add texture and warmth, offering a space where the owners could relax after a long day at work.
To enhance the space, we focused on adding furnishings that added depth and comfort to the space. The reeded TV credenza is timeless and artisan crafted, acting as a piece of furniture that can be passed down through generations. The art in the home is such a strong focus, but it’s placed in a way that isn’t too overpowering for anyone who visits. Instead, it adds to the intrigue of the home, giving visitors something new to admire and discover each time they enter the space.
In the dining area, the five-paneled art creates dimension and a focal wall. Keeping a house cohesive in design and color is key for a well-balanced home, but as you no doubt know, this can be a challenging task in any house. The cool blue tones are carried up into the master bedroom, helping to create a tranquil environment for a good night of sleep. Simple patterns mixed with dark wood add contrast to the space without being too overpowering to take away from the comforting atmosphere of the room. The artwork was chosen with intention during the remodeling work and creates a calming vibe for a relaxing end or beginning of the day. The bedroom should never have anything too bold or striking when it comes to interior design work, but you can still add artwork that will offer you inspiration each and every day.
Yoko is happy to see her clients happily living back in their newly designed home after a long journey to rebuild it after the unfortunate fire. A fire is something no family wants to go through, but Yoko and the team strived to create a positive outcome from this tragic event. No doubt they will enjoy living here for many years to come, thanks to the fantastic interior design work completed by the team, helping the clients to build happy memories once again in their San Francisco Bay Area home.
