Bathroom Designers & Remodelers

The 80's reinvented

My basic brief was to create a simple bathroom design with all the necessities. Being a master en-suite, I was to incorporate two basins and to transform clutter to space. There was a large spa bath situated in the corner of the bathroom to the right as you walked into the room. Leading up to the spa bath was three steps; to the left of it was the shower with a step; opposite a basin and attached was a separate toilet. Designed in the eighties, all these things took up a very large part of the bathroom leaving not much space for anything else.
Through the use of Corteen Rust Porcelain Tiles definition was provided to highlight the step for both safety and a feature.
On each side of the doorway is a ‘his and her’ basin with a handle-free cabinets, suspended off the floor to give the impression that they are floating. The solid walls presented a problem, as we had no way of concealing the plumbing in the walls to connect to the basins. By using a triangular tile section, concealed underneath the cabinet, we solved this problem and hid the plumbing. Above each cabinet is a chamfered edge mirror set on a backboard, defined by a matching light above, again giving the whole bathroom a floating feel.
