South Shore Club - Community Clubhouse

A private clubhouse serving a community of forty families in Lake Geneva, Wisconsin. This award-winning, subterranean structure is situated in the center of a horseshoe arrangement of single-family homes. Preserving the lake views while providing a gathering space for community members was the real challenge.
The wood-burning fireplace chimney is disguised within the cottage folly placed on the clubhouse roof. The clubhouse features a multi-purpose space, ornate bar, pool lockers, catering kitchen, pool equipment, and administrative offices.
Extending to the exterior and connected by a series of accordion French doors by Nana Wall Systems are pergolas, table seating, and a large clover-leaf pool.
The cottage "ruins" on the roof is another entertaining space with grill, fire pit, and link to the property's history. This was once the site of the Northwest Military Academy and a relic from that time survives in the form of a terrazzo monument of the cadets. This impressive monument was repurposed and is a prominent feature of the cottage "ruins" as a flagpole base.
