This kitchen was large but the long bar with the dual heights and the refrigerator wall created less counter space and function. The laundry was behind the refrigerator wall in the original design. Moving the laundry upstairs created ease for the homeowner and allowed the refrigerator to be pushed back into that space along with more storage. The creation of a new, large island gave massive storage opportunity and much needed counter space. An avid cook, the homeowner wanted a large range and sink. I also added spice and utensil holders flanking the range and a hidden pet food station within the island. A brand new, built in bar replaced the previous freestanding bar complete with a refrigerator and ice maker.
