The Brighton Beach Estate is an early 20th Century lakefront garden estate with a house designed by famed Seattle architect, Arthur Loveless. A recent renovation of the house spurred the client to restore the garden to its original splendor. The first residents of the estate were early supporters of the Washington Park Arboretum and held annual garden party fundraisers there. AHBL made every attempt to stay true to the garden’s origins. Using historic photographs and print materials, AHBL’s Jason Morse revived the aesthetic and structure of the historic garden while adapting it to the needs of the modern family. The garden features a restored lily pond, arbors, a brick parking court, terraced lawns, planted slopes, a primrose garden, and a seamless integration of new plantings with original plantings.
