TuffSkin Surface Protection

Thank you for your honest feedback. I would be happy to discuss this further with the local team and yourself to see some form of remedy. I will need more information as I didn't locate you in our system. We understand investing in your countertops is one thing and further investing to make them last longer is another. In the meantime, wear is caused directly from what is placed on the surface. There has to be something that is causing it, but what? I have a few recommendations while we figure this out, but remember- whatever is occurring to the TuffSkin is it's not occurring to your countertop directly so they are protected. And although replacing your countertop with other countertops is easier said than done, all countertops experience wear. Had TuffSkin not been there, all wear would be occurring to that surface along with whatever TuffSkin has prevented from damaging them. So let's figure this out together and find the source and see if we can remedy.

Since projects are done on a local basis, we were able to look into our system and follow up with our local team about this project. We were taken out of the correspondence so we didn’t know what occurred after. After seeing this review now, we followed up with our team. The response was as follows to create transparency to others who may be wanting to protect their investment and see these types of comments as reasons not to.

“We went there to see what the issues were. There were two. They dropped something on the top and it dented and put a small cut in it. The second one was more pronounced. There is an edge chip. Either it was a previous repair that fell out OR something banged the edge. The TuffSkin was floating above that chip. We showed him how the edge of the stone was recessed under the TuffSkin but he said he didn't believe it. We quoted to replace the piece and they said they weren't paying any more money….We had already replaced a piece for free.”

Physical damage to TuffSkin is a success story as those issues would have otherwise caused the expense of restoration to fix. Our product guarantees it won’t etch or stain, but we can’t guarantee against wear and tear. For two years of useful life while still protecting the surface may not have been what you were expecting, but those counters are still being protected daily.

Since our product is designed to be removed and replaced, we do hope when a customer is ready that we can replace just the TuffSkin to make them look new again. Without needing to replace or restore the stone itself.

Have you been using our TuffSkin Protectant Spray at least once? Although TuffSkin is scratch-resistant, the stone can scratch too. This is why we always like to say that it prevents from scratching your counters. To assist with the lifespan, we also created a protectant spray. Beneficial for more active families. Maybe this will help?

I see who had mentioned that there had been no longer communication from the dealer in your area which may be causing frustration. Since we have dealers located in many areas, I would be happy to solve that issue. Would you give us the chance?

Regarding pricing, we do hope it doesn’t justify a negative review. It’s properly calculated as I’ll explain:

Our product has been developed over 12+ years to guarantee stone countertops won’t etch or stain for 10-Years (Or more) depending on the usage. Not only is it everything about the layers developed into Tuffskin like the hardcoat, the uv inhibitor, thickness, the adhesive, and overall finish- it's layers of nanotechnology designed to appear like nothing is on the surface while giving you maximum protection. And the product is really nothing without a proper install. And the certified TuffSkin dealer network we have spent a lot of time being trained to make sure they can do it properly.

What this means is, we have developed this product (Lots of time, love, and money from a family business) to withstand usage in a setting that traditionally required a company to come into your home and restore that same stone every year and half at $15-20 sqft, or resealing your stone every year ($5-$15) with common sealers that don't prevent etching.

This means, in the same 10-year time frame you have the tendency to be spending $60-$90 per square foot in the maintenance with little to no protection against damaging your stone. While also not having the cohesive finish of the stone protection.

What I like to say is, if you have marble countertops, you chose to have the Lamborgini of countertops, and there isn't a way to get a cheap oil change. The same goes for your countertops, this is really the most affordable way to reassure you get the most out of it, protecting it the best way you can, while having a consistent finish that entire time.
