What Granite/Marble Sealer did you use?
Comments (4)I used Granite Shield. It didn't change the texture. I have had the marble for 1.5+ years. No stains. But it definitely etches. But no stains. And this is after having big italian dinners for 30+ with lots of red sauce, wine etc......See MoreWhat kind of under counter lighting did you use, pictures?
Comments (4)Went recently with LED for the energy efficiency and heat reasons above. Our electrician said that 2-3 years ago, LED was not a good choice because a lot of it was poorly made and would have diodes burning out in 1 year instead of the 25 you are supposed to get with them. He felt better about some of the newer models. The lights we have are not blue like a lot of LEDs, but they aren't as warm as traditional incandescent either......See MoreWhite bevel edge subway, what type of bullnose/edge did you use?
Comments (6)I agree with all of you who settled on the metal strips and with Michael who says it looks great. After hours of research and going out to search for the right finishing trim in ceramic, porcelain, marble, stone, you-name-it, for my white beveled subway tiles, I came across a gentleman in a store who advised me to take a look at the metal edge transition strips for tiles at a neighborhood tile store. I finally settled on a curved (not straight or squared edge) bullnose satin nickel stainless steel trim to hide the unevenness of the thickness of the tile cuts, avoid any chipping, and also to match my bathroom fixtures. My white beveled subway tiles look beautiful! The store had a sample shower niche with the same bullnose metal edge and it looked very nice and modern and had a clean finish. Best to you on your projects!...See MoreWhat 'almost white' wall did you use?
Comments (27)I don’t see white walls as trendy, more of a classic, though the white itself used can really vary depending on mood you want from a stark white to a soft white, to a green white, yellow white, or pink white. Other elements can also really affect white (trim, natural lighting, indirect lighting, furniture colours, etc). I love white walls, I never bore of them like I do other colours. They are a great blank canvas for everything else and I find them just refreshing, especially at times or year where daylight is more limited. Even a very bright stark white can look warmer and inviting - I looked at a home recently that basically had High Reflective White everywhere (trim, walls) but added warm wood elements (bamboo) kept it looking warm rather than stark. It felt so open and bright. We are using SW Heron Plume on all our walls in new home. It a rather neutral white in that it does not seem to lean yellow or green but definitely still varies depending on lighting and other decor choices - sometimes more grey, sometimes more pink. Our trim is Cloverdale Standard White and cabinets are SW Alabaster....See More- 12 years ago
