Sandra, we are thinking of using schoolhouse pendants and also have an open floor plan. If you feel like sharing I would love to see a photo of your kitchen/dining room with the lights you decided to use.

Our previous home and our dining furniture were destroyed by a storm back in January so everything in the space will be new. I was going to wait until the house was nearer completion to decide exactly what furniture I will put in the space, beginning with the table and chairs and going from there. I’m not even sure if I want a hutch in the space or not as it will crowd the space and limit me in the future if I need to use table extensions for larger gatherings. Plus, there is a 30” wall between the kitchen and dining room (shaded in pink). Therefore, my gut says center between windows :) I just wanted to be sure before I had the electrician move it so I didn’t end up asking him to move it back later... :/

Let’s talk shape first. Entry light...assuming you mean for a foyer? Is it 1 or 2 story? Confined space or sprawling? So try to narrow down the size and shape first and then the style should fall into place.

KSWL Where are you finding all these amazing blue lights. I googled for blue light fixtures and nothing like this came up. I think I might do the velvet for my bedroom and the Safavieh for my living room unless my husband isn't on board. I'll show him tonight! The kitchen and breakfast nook we have light fixtures already, we're using these to match our Big Chill range with the aged brass accents. Pricklypearcactus It is a natural maple floor. I don't know the specific name or brand. If you're interested, I can give you my flooring guy's contact details if you're anywhere near Orlando. Or I can call him and try to find out. We used it throughout our entire house so if you want I can also post pictures in other rooms so you can see how it looks in different lights.
