Thanks to everyone for helping me figure this out! And cawaps -- I didn't know about the control+ trick ---. I was marveling over it and my kids just rolled their eyes at me. And Amy -- I googled Sarah Richardson marble backsplash and came up with one kitchen repeated in several sites, but not this kitchen -- thanks for finding those others. I really like this backsplash design. I didn't know that you could get the marble in such large tiles, but since people use it as flooring, guess it comes in many sizes. Thanks!!

Um...the combinations of color/material are gorgeous, the layouts are designed to maximize the ergonomics of every prepping/cooking/cleaning movement, the wealth of knowledge shared monthly surpasses the content of a college course (and I've studied more here than I ever did in school). So of course we are not crazy ;)

Your kitchen came out just gorgeous! You must be thrilled. I love the tile, it sets everything off beautifully. I'm also admiring your faucet, since I'm looking for something similar. I work at HD and have not noticed this faucet. Hmmmm... The granite looks very much like several Giallo Vicenza slabs I've been looking at. I loved the gray tones many of them have blended in. I thought they were Giallo Veneziano, but the granite yard insists they're Vicenza. This was one of my top contenders til I fell in love with Crema Bordeaux. But the Vicenza/Veneziano does have a rich, old world feel to it that can be stunning with the right cabinets. Congrats on a beautiful kitchen!

Everybody gets to vote, right?? Kitchen designers, dog catchers, backsplash goof-u-ses, prison inmates and the like? Okay, given I am one of the above, here is my two cents. Looking at the picture, I think it looks perfect and needs nothing else. Visualize an 18" band of "something" going across that beautiful soapstone. I think it would take away from your counter. You also have alot of knobs going on there and for some reason, I think another element would detract and not add to it overall. Also, I like the way the paint from the backsplash area goes around the window. If you did a tile or such, I would not like it unless you outlined the window as well. But, that would not work with subways or beadboard. How is the paint finish holding up? If you've had no problems, I would leave as is. Your kitchen is gorgeous. Look at it overall. Some kitchens SCREAM for a backsplash...your kitchen does not.
